Updates & exciting news!
Been a long time since I have posted. Spent the rest of March getting ready for the Boston Marathon. I was running better than ever and getting really excited to try and run 3:40 in Boston. On March 21st I jumped in a local marathon (Tobacco Road) and ran the first 21 miles. It was an amazing run - clocked 2:51 which is about 8:14 mpm. Felt great the whole way and was really able to push myself. The week after that race I felt really tired and my runs were feeling very sluggish. I attributed it to not being fully recovered from a hard 21 mile race. But I was also realizing how sore my boobs were .... so on the morning of March 30th I decided to pee on a stick and within about 15 seconds that thing turned positive - Holy crap - I'm pregnant! Ty was in the shower and when he got out I just stood there speechless with the stick in my hand. We were thrilled, but also in complete shock. It was a very odd mix of emotions that I felt for the first week or 2. We literally had just started to "try" Our worries of "trying" flew right out the window that morning :)
The first few weeks have flown by - thank goodness I haven't had any morning sickness. I was ravenous all the time and exhausted (still exhausted!). I was also nervous about the upcoming Boston Marathon. I wanted to run it but had not done much research on pregnancy and running. I also needed to find a new OB/GYN since the one I had was not in network with my Duke insurance plan. I was able to get in with a Duke OB/GYN practice and also get educated about running while pregnant. Got the ok to run the marathon (slowly) and it was off to Boston on 4/16.
