Continuing to "hang loose" here in Hawaii. 30 min. swim this morning with a coffee break halfway through! There is a floating coffee bar 700 meters out from Dig Me beach with coffee and espresso for the triathletes. It was awesome! Treading water out in the beautiful blue ocean, looking down at the coral, and sipping on Kona coffee...now if they only had this in the race! It was a great way to start the day. You can feel the energy throbbing throughout the air down at the pier- it is like any pother Ironman x 10. The bleachers have gone up down at the finish line on Ali'i Dr. and Ironman Village is in full swing. After the swim Ty and I parked ourselves at "Java On The Rocks" and had breakfast. While we were walking down Ali'i we passed who else but Sister Madonna Buder. She is one amazing woman. She is a 79 yr old nun who has completed over 36 Ironmans. For the rest of the day we played tourists and headed out to the Hawaii Volcano National Park. It was a long car ride, but well worth it. As we arrived you could see the haze in the sky, and then we saw the warning sign as we entered- Dangerous Sulfur Dioxide Gas- Air Quality Unhealthy. Awesome- what more do I need before an Ironman. But hey, what the hell. We forged ahead and did not spend much time outdoors. Fortunately the air quality improved as we headed to the Jagger Museum which is where we had an amazing view of the Kilauea Caldera, Halema'uma'u Crater, and lava beds from the 1971,1974, and 1982 eruptions. It was very surreal to watch the active steam venting up from beneath the earth. Almost like you could feel your mortality. Seeing all of this has strengthened my respect for this island. I hope Madame Pele will be kind to me on Saturday. After breathing in dangerous air, what else is better for a triathlete than a little wine tasting!? We stopped quickly at the Volcano Winery (we were really looking for food- but hey- The Archibalds' and Johnsons' have been known to enjoy some wine every now and again ;) I did not care for any of the wines- they were extremely sweet. It was a wonderful day and now we are enjoying the evening out on the lanai. It's t-minus 3 days until the big show and I am feeling great. So excited to race on this beautiful island amidst the best triathletes in the world. What a great gift I have been given. The best is yet to come!

Really happy for you. Glad you are enjoying the island. It truly a special place. Try and do saddle road and Mauna Kea at sunset if you can. It's amazing
