Black Betty is in one piece! She is spending the night at Bike Works getting tuned up for Saturday. It was a big relief to unpack her and find her in 1 piece. My dad and I went down to the swim start this AM and I swam for about 30 minutes. There is significant current and some swells, but it was so clear and beautiful. Great views of colorful fish and coral. Also great views of 0% body fat ;) (All those male triathletes in speedos) Town was VERY busy; Ali'i Dr. is where all the action is. It reminded us of a Hawaiin P-town (for those of you that have been to P-twon) Lots of touristy shops and places to eat. We headed out to the Kona Brewing Company for lunch. My favorite beer is made by them - Wailua Wheat and it was even better on draft. After lunch we all headed to Safeway to get MORE groceries. That is always the part of Ironman week I dislike. Usually I like to grocery shop, but it always feels more like a chore during Ironman week. After grocery shopping I ran for about an hour down Ali'i Dr. It was hard to keep the pace under control when you are amidst many talented triathletes. You just want to run as fast as you can. Speaking of "as fast as you can"....Will is intent on trying to catch the many hundreds of geckos running around. He is amusing himself with them and my mom and I amused ourselves picking fruit from the trees on the property here. We have mango trees, lime trees, and a random "citrus" tree that seems to be producing a lemons, limes, and oranges (although this is still under great debate :) We have found more than one use for the pool net- it's a great tool for picking fruit! I am sad to report that I forgot the cable for the camera, so I can't download any pictures until we get home.
