Long time no post...

It's been a busy few weeks! Besides work, we've been up to a few things. Hosted a party on the 1st for Sarah, my co-worker who is going to nurse anesthesia school in a few weeks and she also got married last weekend. We had a great time, packed about 35 people into our house and played many rounds of Guitar Hero. Fun times. This past Monday Ty and I returned from a quick trip up to the Cape. We celebrated an early Christmas with my family. It was FREEZING up there and we were not sad to return to 8o degree sunny weather! We did have a great time up there, ate and drank A LOT, but also balanced that out with a run each day. It was a shock to the system to run in 30-40 degree weather! It was great to visit with my folks, and my brother and his girlfriend. We alo got to meet our wedding photographer and our justice of the peace. We also checked out some places for a rehearsal dinner. When we returned on Monday, I headed to Chapel Hill to pick up the newest edition to our little family. Ty and I adopted "Mattie", a 7 yr old German Shepard, from one of the docs I work with. We love her lots and she is a great running companion. Simon, on the other hand, does not exactly feel the same way :) Mattie is very mellow and well trained so that is helping, and sometimes she is more scared of Simon, than Simon is scared of her. They have gotten about 3 feet from each other and can be in the same room. We think they will be friends after some time has passed. Mattie unfortunately has been suffering from some separation anxiety. Her previous owner, Alden, had a baby in the spring and since she and her husband are both MD's they are never home and they have a live in nanny who couldn't provide enough attention to the 2 dogs they have. The other Shepard they have was doing fine, but Mattie was really having issues so Alden had to give her up. So Ty and I are trying to ease her into our home as best we can. It's not easy, but we are hoping that in a month she will be comfortable here. We have been taking her running everyday and today she jumped in the lake at the park which she loved. I will post some pics as soon as I find the cable that goes to the camera :) Tonight we are headed to our first Hurricanes game of the season. Tommy and Kelly are here for the night and Ty's dad is headed up from Pinehurst also. Should be a grand time.
