T-Minus 12 hours...

12 hours from now I will be arriving at the transition area. Had a short swim this AM, followed by a 30 min spin on the bike and a 10 min jog. Hung out on the beach with the fam and floated around in the water-sans wetsuit :) The beach and water are so beautiful. The water is incredibly clear and the sand is so white.

Feel pretty good, had the kinks worked out of my neck and shoulders with a 30 min massage. Racked my bike and checked in my gear bags quickly and without any problems. I did manage to forget to put a few things in though ie running shorts, underarmour underwear, and forgot to add reflective tape to my running shoes. No problem...I'll add them in the AM along with all my nutrition. This year I am adding a new weapon to my nutrition plan.....Sun Drop. I discovered Sun Drop after I moved down to the North Cack. It is a citrus like soda and it is LOADED with caffeine. Tom and Kelly drink it like it's water and I don't know how they remain calm after drinking it. They brought 2 12 packs and a liter bottle down here so I am sticking an ice cold can in my T2 bag and I will look forward to having afew swigs of it before I start the marathon. Other than the Sun Drop my nutrition consists of GU, Gatorade Endurance, Pringles and Baked Cheetos for the salt, Milano cookies and little Snickers Bars for the sugar. I also switch to Coke during the marathon b/c by that point the thought of Gatorade makes you wanna puke and the caffeine buzz helps alot.

I am hoping to PR with my time, but as always, the first goal is to finish and finish safely! It's along day out there and you never know what can happen. The only thing you can control is pace, nutrition, and attitude. The rest is up to the Iron gods. If everything goes my way I'll be hitting the line at about 14 hours...maybe a little less, maybe a little longer- we'll see. My favorite part is the marathon and I am going to try and savor every bit of the race. Looking forward to the finish obviously, but also looking forward to spending one more day after the race down here and having an awesome dinner with Ty. Stay tuned for a race report in a few days:)

You never kow unless you tri!
