Happy July (today is Canada Day- so to all my Canadian friends....Oh Canada!)
The countdown is on...today is July 1st....the 18th is creeping up! One week from Friday and we will be up on the Cape! Two weeks from Friday and we will be married! Let me go ahead and get the sad news out of the way- a week ago we put Mattie to sleep :( She had developed progressive myelopathy which is common in German Shepards and she couldn't really get around well...it progressed very quickly and she was losing her quality of life very quickly so we decided it was the right time. It was one of the hardest things we have ever done and we both cried like babies, but we know it was the right thing to do. So needless to say last week was not fun. I was in a foul mood, was aggravated at work, and exhausted. But things are better- we still miss seeing her face when we come home, and poor Simon seems to miss her lots- he is meowing and being extra lovey - he is sitting on my lap as I write this. Anyways, I have been able to do a little running- nothing major- just about 3-5 miles. The weather has been beautiful w/ a few really hot days thrown in the mix. I took a cardiac surgery certification exam this morning and passed so I was excited. (Just means a few extra letters in my official title: Emily Archibald, RN, CCRN-CSC. I have been working on a noise reduction project at work - we now have a noise meter called the "Yacker Tracker" hanging in the unit...still have some bugs to work out of it though...tonight a few of my girlfriends and I are going out for a little low key Raleigh bachlorette dinner- Ty is going to chauffeur us to and from :) That's pretty much it for now.
